The starting point of Soundtrack for Evil Doll, it’s an email from Tokyo based, Joel Smith, to commission a music score for his soon to be released short film Cursed Forever. After a couple of months, exchanging demos, ideas, concepts and filmic and musical references, we got to a final approximately 25 minutes of music, of which, on most 18 minutes of it, were actually used in the film.

The final set of songs, named Soundtrack for Evil Doll, presents a logical compilation of music, in an EP short album format. It proposes a parallel narrative line, in which listeners can make its own lectures and imagine diverse timelines of the film.
It’s first single, Aurora, contains all the motives presented in the album. Heavy presence of drums and percussion, repetitive and pulsating bass lines, and saturated sound landscapes, reminiscent to an urban horror dystopia.

Written and recorded during 2020 and 2021, in US and Chile during the amidst covid-19 pandemic, The Holydrug Couple are going to release a new piece of work after it’s acclaimed album Hyper Super Mega, out on Sacred Bones Records in 2018. After 10 years of it’s very first release, Ancient Land EP on 2011 with Sacred Bones, and have played and toured in EEUU, UK, Europe, Mexico and Brazil, and featured featured on major music media such as NME, Q magazine, Uncut magazine and Consequence of sound, this year The Holydrug Couple are ready to put out new releases containing their unique and distinctive sound.
